My monotypes are made by applying ink onto a metal plate and then transferring this onto paper using an etching press.  The end result is unique, hence ‘mono’ type, as opposed to ‘edition’ printing which produces multiple prints of the same image.   I enjoy the rich colours and textures that I can produce using this technique and again, the results are very immediate.  Inspiration can be a gift of flowers, a marrow from the garden and (frequently) the daily antics of my hens!
